My name is Anders Nordstrom, and I am an audio engineer, software engineer, and musician currently operating out of New York City. I love everything associated with music and audio - recording in the studio, running live sound or lighting at a venue, programming audio-based applications and products, or performing in front of a crowd.
I like to record anything I can - primarily rock, jazz, punk, hip hop, electronic/industrial, and classical. I have great interest in extreme genres, and I adore anything that pushes my musical and engineering boundaries.
Below, you’ll find all of my available services and previous experience.
Recording, Mixing, and Mastering
My time at New York University has been dedicated to growing as an audio engineer, particularly in a studio environment. Over the past year and a half, I have worked as a studio engineer at the university’s state-of-the-art James L. Dolan studios and Paulson Center Ensemble Rehearsal and Performance Room.
Much of my time has been dedicated to engineering for NYU Steinhardt’s Screen Scoring program, where I have recorded string quartets, woodwind ensembles, and full orchestras, among others.
I write, record, mix, and master my own music, as well. My most recent release with my group, Police State, is entitled Slow Violence, and a Silent Rise. Much of the record was recorded live - complete with rock instrumentation, a horn trio, and a string trio - at the historic Nile Theater in Mesa, Arizona.
Aside from Slow Violence’s focus on post-rock, power electronics, and ambient genres, I have also been able to explore elements of industrial noise, hardcore punk, and dance music through my time in Police State.
Software Engineering
One of my proudest software engineering achievements is the Antagonist Mini.
The Antagonist is both a granular synthesizer and an oscillator drone machine. The synthesizer’s granular mode allows for two samples to be played at once, whilst the oscillator drone mode allows for three different oscillations, along with a modulating LFO, to be played simultaneously.
Each source of audio in the Antagonist can be altered and mangled beyond recognition: audio can be distorted, delayed, panned, and pitched to generate anything from harsh, industrial noise to beautiful, expansive soundscapes.
Event Production and Performance
Featured below are a curated collection of musical events, tours, and festivals that I have held leading roles in, including promotion, lighting, and performance. All artwork credited to Jack Pyles and Alex PlesKovitch.

"Humiliation and Failure 2025" Tour - Joint United States West Coast Tour between Arizona-based groups Police State and Washed. I acted as Show Booker, Financial Supervisor, Manager, Lighting Supervisor, and Promoter.
"Acid Western '24" - A Phoenix, Arizona-based festival featuring numerous heavy & abrasive bands from the Southwest. Held August 10th, 2024. I acted as Festival Organizer, Financial Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor, Booker, Manager, and Promoter.
"Music Like Escaping Gas" - A Phoenix, Arizona-based festival featuring the talents of sixteen avant-garde musical and visual artists. Held July 20th, 2024. I acted as Festival Organizer, Financial Supervisor, Booker, Manager, Lighting Supervisor, and Promoter.

"Music Like Escaping Gas" visual arts guests.

Large-Scale event at The Nile Theater 8.10.23. I acted as Festival Organizer, Financial Supervisor, Booker, Manager, Lighting Supervisor (for Police State), and Promoter.
My experiences with live performance in the group Police State have been marked by constant improvement and unrestrained ambition.
I pre-programmed all of the lighting, managed all musicians, and lead booking of all events featured in the video, within a modest, DIY budget.
I believe the footage encapsulates the group’s, and thus my own, musical ethos:
Realize your art as fully as possible.
If you can do it yourself, do it yourself.
Stay within budget.
Disregard rules #2 and #3 in service of rule #1.
